With Houston Gas Prices Up, Tips for Saving at the Pump

The national average for a gallon of gas is around $3.57. Houston gas prices are about 12 cents lower — still pricey.
Oil consultant Andy Lipow said even though prices have steadily increased in the past month, there is relief in sight.
“We’re going to see a very slow but steady decline now through the Labor Day holiday,” Lipow said.
So until then, Houston’s ABC affiliate KTRK-TV offers a few tips you can use to save at the pump.
Tip 1: Purchase fuel from stations away from major highways.
